What to expect in New Mexico

Official 70% passing score

New Mexico MVD publishes a 70% passing score for the written test. The current audited sources do not publish the ordinary total, correct-answer count, time limit, answer-choice count, road-sign subtotal or separate sign minimum.

Original TLA practice blueprint

This 30-question mock uses a 21-correct learning target by applying the published 70% threshold. Its eight-sign/22-rule split is a Trusted Local Auto study choice, not an official New Mexico section quota.

Frequently asked questions

Is the New Mexico Class D Written practice test free?

Yes. All 234 questions, with their answers and explanations, are free, and so are the 5 numbered practice tests. You do not need an account to practise. You get 1 free exam simulation, and 2 with a free account. A free account also keeps your progress on all your devices. The optional Exam Pass is a one-time payment for one test and 90 days, not a subscription. It adds practice tools: practice by topic, practice of missed and saved questions until you get them right, more exam simulations, a timed exam simulator and a chance-to-pass score.
