What is the youngest age at which a New Mexico teen may apply for a provisional license?
Correct answer: 15 years and 6 months
Why
The provisional license is the second stage of New Mexico's graduated system and the first stage in which a teen may drive without a supervisor. Age alone is not enough: the teen must also have held the permit for at least six months, finished approved driver education with its DWI part, and completed the practice driving hours. The provisional license still limits young passengers and late-night driving.
