Weather, Visibility & EmergenciesStandalone practice
On a clear evening, the sun sets at 7:40 p.m. You are driving home. Under New York law, from what time must your headlights be on?
Correct answer: 8:10 p.m.
Why
The law also requires headlights at any time when you cannot see clearly for 1,000 feet ahead. The manual advises you to turn them on earlier, at dawn and dusk, because they make your vehicle easier for others to see. At night your headlights light the road for only about 350 feet, so drive at a speed that lets you stop within that distance.
