Mia, 16, drives with a junior learner permit. Her father, who is 45 and licensed, supervises her from the front passenger seat. Her 16-year-old friend wants to come along. Where may the friend ride?
Correct answer: In the back seat, with a seat belt on
Why
This rule keeps the supervisor in the best position to watch the learner and help. The learner and every passenger must be properly restrained, one person per belt, and young children must use the right child restraint. When the supervisor is not a parent, guardian or instructor, a junior permit holder may carry only one passenger under 21 who is not a family member.
