Ben, 16, got his junior learner permit on March 1. How long must he hold the permit in valid status before he may take the road test?
Correct answer: At least six months, not counting any time it was suspended
Why
The waiting period gives a new driver time to gain experience with a supervisor in many kinds of traffic and weather. After the road test, the driver gets a junior license (Class DJ), which has its own time, place and passenger limits. A traffic conviction can suspend the permit and delay the road test.
