Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
An officer charges a driver with DWI and asks the driver to take a breath test. The driver refuses. What happens to the driver's license?
Correct answer: It is revoked at once for 30 or more days, then for 12 months by the DMV
Why
Anyone who drives on a North Carolina highway or public vehicular area gives consent to a chemical test of breath or blood if charged with an implied-consent offense, such as DWI. The test result, or the refusal, can be used as evidence in court. In some cases, after six months of the refusal revocation, a judge may allow a limited driving privilege.
