On a two-lane road, you stop behind a school bus that has its red lights flashing and its stop arm out. The children have reached the sidewalk, but the red lights still flash. When may you go?
A is stopped behind westbound school bus B on a two-lane road. B’s red lights remain illuminated and its STOP arm is extended; two children have reached the sidewalk outside the roadway.
Correct answer: When the bus moves, the bus driver signals you on, or the red lights stop
Why
Children can appear suddenly from in front of or behind a bus, so the stop protects them while they load and unload. On an undivided road, traffic from both directions must stop. Some buses first show yellow lights; they warn that the bus will stop soon and that the red lights will come on, so slow down and be ready to stop.
