Passing target: 75% (30/40)
You buy liability insurance so that you can legally drive your car in Ohio. Which policy limits are the minimum amounts that Ohio requires?
Correct answer: $25,000 for one person hurt or killed, $50,000 for two or more, $25,000 for property
Why
It is illegal in Ohio to drive, or to let someone else drive your vehicle, without financial responsibility. An insurance policy at these limits is the usual way to meet the rule. A bond at the same amounts, or a $30,000 deposit with the Registrar, also qualifies (ORC 4509.62). Be ready to show proof when an officer gives you a ticket, at an inspection stop, and in traffic court. You must also show it after a crash with more than $400 in property damage, and when the BMV asks.
