You adjust the driver's seat before a drive. What is the minimum space that the Ohio manual advises between your chest and the steering wheel, so the airbag can open safely?
A side view shows a belted driver sitting upright at the steering wheel. The chest and wheel center are visible as reference points, with no measurement marked.
Correct answer: 10 inches
Why
An airbag opens very fast and with great force, so a driver who sits too close can be hurt by it. The manual also advises that your heel stays on the floor as your foot moves between the pedals, the top of the wheel is no higher than your shoulders, and the head restraint touches the back of your head. A correct seat position gives you a clear view and full control.
