Your car has standard brakes, not antilock brakes. You must slow down on an icy road. What braking method does the Oklahoma manual recommend?
Correct answer: Tap the brake pedal lightly, about one second apart.
Why
On ice, snow, sleet, gravel or sand, the tires have little grip, and a wheel that locks will slide. Never tap or pump antilock brakes; the owner's manual gives the right method for a car with ABS. Test your brakes gently soon after you start to move, and watch for black ice on bridges and in shady spots.
