Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You drive in the right lane of a four-lane road and want to move into the left lane. Which order of steps is safest?
Correct answer: Check your mirrors, signal, look over your left shoulder, then move when the gap is safe.
Why
A lane change puts your car into a path that another vehicle may already use. The blind spots beside your car are large enough to hide a car or a motorcycle, so a look over the shoulder is necessary. Keep out of the blind spots of the vehicles near you, and do not weave from lane to lane. When a driver ahead signals a lane change, slow down and leave space for the move.
