Your turn signal lamps stop working, and you need to turn left. How do you give the hand-and-arm signal?
Three left-arm positions appear without a selected choice: straight outward, bent upward and bent downward. The card states that the turn-signal lamps have failed and the next turn is left.
Correct answer: Extend your left arm straight out, level with the ground.
Why
Hand-and-arm signals are the backup when signal lamps fail, and bicyclists use them every day. Put your arm well out of the window so that others can see it clearly. Bring your arm back in before you make the turn, so that you have both hands to steer. Learn all three signals, because you must also understand them when other road users give them.
