Passing target: 80% (16/20)
On a two-lane road with one lane in each direction, the car ahead of you stops with its left signal on to turn left. There is enough paved lane to its right for your car. What may you do?
A follows B on a road with one lane in each direction. B is stopped with its left signal on, and the paved travel lane has room to B’s right.
Correct answer: Pass on the right with care, and keep all four wheels on the pavement.
Why
Oklahoma allows a pass on the right in only three cases: the vehicle ahead is turning left or about to, the road has two or more lanes in each direction with no parked cars or obstructions, or the road is one-way. Even then, the pass must be safe and must stay on the pavement. Drivers on the right do not expect to be passed, so watch for pedestrians, bicycles and cars that come out of driveways. If the room on the right is not enough, stop and wait behind the turning car.
