Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You pass this white sign that says SPEED LIMIT 45. The road is dry and clear, and most cars around you go about 55 mph. How fast may you lawfully drive?

Correct answer: 45 mph, even though other drivers go faster
Why
The speed limit is a maximum for good conditions only. In rain, fog, heavy traffic or darkness, Oklahoma's basic speed rule requires a speed that lets you stop within the clear distance ahead, and that speed can be much lower. Speed limit signs are rectangles because they are regulatory signs, which you must obey.
