Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You come to a steady red light and want to turn right. No sign forbids the turn, and no pedestrians are near. A car on the cross street is still far away. What must you do?
A approaches a steady red light intending to turn right. Car B is still far back on the cross street to A’s left; no pedestrians or sign prohibiting the turn are shown.
Correct answer: Stop fully, then turn when you can yield to people and traffic
Why
A sign such as NO TURN ON RED cancels this permission. After the stop, yield to people in the crosswalk and to every vehicle that is lawfully in or near the intersection, including bicycles. Look left again just before you turn, because cross traffic comes from that side.
