Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You come to a red eight-sided sign with the white word STOP. You can see that the cross street is clear in both directions. What must you do?

Correct answer: Stop completely, look again for traffic, and go when it is safe.
Why
The eight-sided red sign always requires a full stop, even when the road looks clear. After the stop, yield to vehicles in or near the intersection, and stay stopped for pedestrians in marked or unmarked crosswalks. A full stop gives you time to see a car, bicycle or person that you did not see on the approach.
