Passing target: 80% (28/35)
You drive behind a motorcycle on a road with two lanes in your direction. The rider stays near the left side of the lane, and there is space beside the motorcycle on its right. You want to pass. What must you do?
A follows motorcycle B on a road with two lanes in each direction. B rides near the left side of the right-hand lane, leaving visible space to its right. The next lane in A’s direction is clear.
Correct answer: Pass by moving fully into the other lane, and leave the rider the whole lane
Why
Strong wind, gravel, grooved pavement and manhole covers can make a rider change speed or position in the lane. The rider needs the full width of the lane to do this safely. When you follow a motorcycle, also leave more following distance than you would leave for a car.
