Passing target: 80% (28/35)
You are about to enter a single-lane roundabout when you hear a siren and see an ambulance with flashing lights behind you. You have not entered the circle yet. What should you do?
A approaches a single-lane roundabout from the west and has not entered. Ambulance B follows in A’s lane with red warning lamps; the card states that the lights flash and its siren sounds. No route or stopping mark appears in the question image.
Correct answer: Stay out of the roundabout, pull to the right, and stop until the ambulance passes
Why
A roundabout has one path, so a stopped car inside it can block an emergency vehicle. If you have not entered, stay out, pull to the right and let the vehicles in the circle leave. If you are already inside, never stop there: continue to your exit, leave the roundabout, then pull to the right shoulder. Oregon law requires drivers to stop clear of any intersection.
