You and a driver on the cross street to your right stop at a four-way stop at the same moment. You both plan to go straight. What should you do?
A and B are stopped on adjacent approaches at a four-way stop, with B on A’s right. The card says both stopped at the same moment and both intend to go straight. Each car is behind its stop line.
Correct answer: Let the driver on your right go first, then go when the way is clear.
Why
At an all-way stop, the usual courtesy is that the driver who stops first goes first. A tie is where crashes happen, because each driver thinks that the other will wait. Never assume that the other driver will yield to you, and look again before you go.
