Between the double yellow lines of a painted median, you see a section filled with yellow diagonal stripes. A parking lot entrance is on the far side of the striped section. What may you do?
A travels beside a painted median bounded by double yellow lines and filled with yellow diagonal stripes. A labeled parking lot entrance is on the opposite side of the striped median.
Correct answer: Stay out of the striped area and make your turn at another place
Why
A plain painted median with double yellow lines on both sides may be crossed for a left turn after oncoming traffic clears, but you may not drive in it or use it as a turn lane. Diagonal stripes inside the median warn of fixed objects ahead or of areas that vehicles must not use. White chevrons on the road give a similar warning.
