Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
On a street with a STOP sign at the next corner, the only open curb space ends 25 feet before the sign. No parking signs are posted. May you park there?
A is shown in the proposed curb space before a STOP sign at the corner. The card states that the space ends 25 feet before the sign and that no parking signs are posted.
Correct answer: No, because you may not park within 30 feet before a STOP sign.
Why
A parked vehicle close to a stop sign can hide the sign from drivers who come up behind it, and it can hide the stop line and the crosswalk. The same 30-foot distance applies before a yield sign, a flashing signal and a traffic signal at the roadside.
