A approaches a STOP sign where there is a marked crosswalk but no separate stop line. Where should A first stop?
Blue car A approaches a STOP-controlled T-junction from the west. A marked crosswalk spans the approach. No separate stop line is present.
Correct answer: Before the near edge, with no part of the car in the crosswalk
Why
Make a complete stop before entering the crosswalk and remain stopped while pedestrians are crossing. Once the crossing is clear, move forward cautiously only as needed to see approaching traffic, and yield before entering the road. A better view does not justify skipping the first stop.
