Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
You see traffic slowing sharply well ahead on the expressway. How should you respond?
A blue car is behind three silver cars with brake lamps illuminated in one expressway lane. The card describes traffic detected well ahead and says the view is not to scale.
Correct answer: Slow early and gradually, and check mirrors and space ahead.
Why
Scan beyond the vehicle immediately ahead. When traffic slows, ease off and brake progressively as needed while checking mirrors and keeping a suitable gap. Normal braking activates the brake lights, but still allow for a following driver who reacts late. Stop if the traffic ahead requires it.
