Why must a driver leave enough following space when travelling at expressway speeds?
Correct answer: At higher speed you cover more ground while reacting and braking.
Why
At higher speed, a vehicle covers more ground during the same reaction time and requires more braking distance. Keep a suitable following interval and look beyond the vehicle directly ahead. Increase the margin when visibility, traction or other conditions worsen; a gap does not replace attention.
