Why might a curved expressway exit ramp require a much lower speed than the main road?
A deceleration lane leads from an expressway into a curved exit ramp.
Correct answer: A tighter curve can exceed tire grip at expressway speed.
Why
Use the deceleration lane to slow before the ramp curve. Check the posted ramp signs and your speedometer, and adapt to the curve and road conditions. The main-road limit is not a promise that the same speed is safe on the ramp; poor traction may require a lower speed still.
