A tire suddenly fails while you are driving. What is the safest initial sequence?
A blue car has a sudden tire failure while travelling in its lane.
Correct answer: Grip the wheel, keep control without braking, then ease off.
Why
Hold the steering wheel firmly. Maintain control and avoid braking until the vehicle is under control. Then ease off the accelerator gradually. Once speed is low, brake gently and move to the roadside when it is safe to stop. Do not make a sudden steering or braking input just because the tire has failed.
