Your two right wheels drop onto a soft shoulder. What should you do?
A blue car’s right wheels are on a soft shoulder beside its lane.
Correct answer: Grip the wheel, ease off and steer back gently when safe.
Why
Keep a firm grip and bring the car parallel to the roadway. Ease off the accelerator and let the car slow without an abrupt brake application. Check that you can return safely, then guide the wheels back gently and straighten within your own lane. Do not swing across the centre line or into an adjacent lane.
