Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive on a narrow country road and come up behind a person who rides a horse near the edge of the road. The horse turns its head toward the sound of your car. What should you do?
A approaches a horse and rider B near the right edge of a narrow two-way country road. The horse’s body continues to the right while its head turns back toward A; the question shows no passing route.
Correct answer: Slow down, pass with care and without noise, and stop if the horse seems afraid.
Why
A horse can react suddenly to a noise or to a vehicle that comes close, and its rider may not be able to control it. The law protects both the rider and the horse, and the same rule applies to a horse that pulls a carriage. Give a wide gap when you pass, and do not speed up again until you are well past the horse.
