You are a short driver, and you sit with your chest very close to the steering wheel, which holds the driver airbag. What should you do?
A side-profile seat detail shows a belted driver sitting upright very close to the steering-wheel airbag cover, with bent elbows. The question contains no adjustment arrow, safe-distance mark or recommended seat position.
Correct answer: Move your seat back so that the airbag has room, and keep your seat belt on.
Why
An airbag opens in a fraction of a second, so a driver who sits too close to it can be hurt by it. After you move the seat, make sure that you can still reach the pedals and the steering wheel easily. Children and infants should ride in the back seat of a car that has a passenger-side airbag.
