You are stopped in traffic. In your mirror, you see a car coming up behind you much too fast. The lane ahead of you has some open space. What should you do?
A is stopped in its lane, and silver car B approaches from behind. The road ahead of A is open. The card states that B is coming too fast; no movement or brake-light response is selected in the question.
Correct answer: Flash your brake lights and move forward into the open space.
Why
Check your mirrors often, also when you are stopped, so that you have time to act. If the crash cannot be avoided, release the brake just before the impact and brake right after it so that you do not slide into another lane. When you stop in traffic, leave some space in front of your car so that you have room to move.
