You drive on a dark road at night when your headlights suddenly go out. What should you do?
Blue car A is in the near lane of a dark two-way roadway at night, with a paved shoulder to its right. There is no headlight beam on the road, and the card states that A’s headlights suddenly went out.
Correct answer: Turn on parking lights or flashers, try the headlight and high-beam switches, and pull off the road.
Why
Without headlights, you cannot see hazards, and other drivers can hardly see you. Try the headlight switch a few times, and if your car has fog lights, try them too. When you are off the road, leave the emergency flashers on, so that other drivers can see the car.
