You load 1,000 pounds of cargo into a utility trailer that you will tow behind your car. How should you divide the weight?
An unloaded utility-trailer reference faces right, with its hitch identified as the front. The card asks how to divide the stated 1,000 pounds of cargo; no weights or chosen loading distribution are marked before the answer.
Correct answer: About 600 pounds in the front half and 400 pounds in the rear half
Why
Keep heavy items on the trailer floor, not on top of other items, and tie down or strap any partial load. Do not go over the trailer maker's maximum gross weight. If the trailer starts to sway, steer straight and slow down gradually without the brakes; then stop off the road and check that the front is heavier.
