Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are in an intersection on a steady green light, waiting to turn left. An oncoming car is close to the intersection and will go straight. What should you do?
A is already in the intersection on a steady green light, waiting to turn left. Oncoming B is close to the intersection and faces straight through.
Correct answer: Wait until the oncoming car passes, then turn when there is a safe gap.
Why
It is hard to judge how fast an oncoming vehicle is moving, and a wrong guess during a left turn can cause a serious crash. With a steady green light, turn left only after oncoming vehicles have passed or are far enough away. Before you turn, also check the street that you will enter for pedestrians, and look one more time at oncoming traffic.
