You stop at a stop sign. The cross street has no stop sign. A car on the cross street is coming toward the intersection and is close. You stopped before that car arrived. Who has the right-of-way?
A blue car is stopped at a STOP-controlled approach. A silver car approaches on the crossing street from A’s right, with no STOP sign on that street.
Correct answer: The car on the cross street, because its road has no stop sign.
Why
A stop sign gives you two duties: stop at the stop line, the crosswalk or the sign, and then yield. After the stop, look in all directions for vehicles and pedestrians, and enter only when the cross road is clear of traffic that could make your crossing unsafe. At an all-way stop the first driver to arrive goes first, but that order does not apply when the cross street has no stop sign.
