You are driving through an intersection on a green light when an ambulance with a siren and flashing lights comes up behind you. What should you do?
Blue car A is crossing an intersection on green. A white ambulance follows behind it, and the card identifies the ambulance’s flashing lights and siren.
Correct answer: Drive on to clear the intersection, then pull over near the right edge and stop until it passes.
Why
Emergency vehicles that use a siren and flashing lights have the right-of-way. Move to the right edge of the road (on a one-way road, the nearest edge), but do not stop in an intersection. Stay stopped until the emergency vehicle has passed, look for more emergency vehicles before you move back into traffic, and leave extra space if you later follow one.
