Your friend will ride a bicycle home after dark. Which equipment meets the Texas rule for night riding?
Correct answer: A white lamp on the front seen from 500 feet, and a red reflector on the rear.
Why
Drivers often do not see bicyclists at night, and the white-front, red-rear pattern tells them which way the bicycle moves. The rear reflector must be an approved type that shows from 50 to 300 feet behind the bicycle when headlights shine on it. Every bicycle also needs a brake that can make a wheel skid on dry, level, clean pavement.
