Passing target: 70% (28/40)
You drive in a lane that two solid white lines separate from the lane to your left. Both lanes carry traffic in your direction. You want to move left to pass a slow car. What do the lines tell you?
A follows a slow silver car B. Two solid white lines separate their lane from the left lane, and both lanes carry traffic in the same direction. The boundary continues across the scene with no gap or selected path.
Correct answer: Do not cross them; stay in your lane until the lines end
Why
Double solid white lines are used where a lane change is dangerous, for example near ramps, tunnels or lanes with a special use. White lines separate lanes that move in the same direction, and yellow lines separate traffic that moves in opposite directions. A single solid white line tells you to avoid a lane change; a broken white line lets you change lanes when it is safe.
