You replace the bulbs in the parking lights of your car. Which color setup is lawful?
Two views of the same blue passenger car, front at left and rear at right. Parking-lamp housings are unlit neutral gray. The card states that parking-light bulbs are being replaced, and labels identify the two ends. Small lower rear reflectors are not depicted as illuminated parking lamps.
Correct answer: White or amber at the front and red at the rear
Why
These colors tell other drivers at a glance which end of a stopped car they see: white or amber means the front, and red means the rear. When you park on a roadway or shoulder at night, Texas law requires lights of these colors that others can see from 1,000 feet, unless other lighting already shows the car at that distance. If you leave headlights on while the car is parked, the law requires you to dim them.
