On a wet road, the rear of your car starts to slide to the right. Which response helps you get control back?
Blue A is on a wet two-lane curve, with its front yawed left of the intended eastbound path. A dark arrow at its rear shows the supplied rear slide to the driver’s right. The card explicitly calls this rear movement, not steering. No front-wheel correction, brake instruction or recovery route appears.
Correct answer: Ease off the gas and steer to the right, then straighten the wheels gently
Why
A car skids when its tires lose their grip, and hard braking or more gas takes away even more grip. When you turn the wheel the way the rear slides, the front wheels point where you want to go, and you can straighten them as the car recovers. To prevent skids, slow down on wet or icy roads and keep your tires in good condition.
