You must park for a few minutes beside a rural highway that has a wide, flat gravel shoulder. Where should your vehicle be?
Blue A travels on a straight rural highway with wide, flat gravel shoulders. No vehicle is already parked on either shoulder.
Correct answer: Fully off the traveled road, where drivers can see it from far off both ways.
Why
Outside towns, the manual tells you to park with all wheels off the traveled portion of the road and not on a hill or curve. Vermont law forbids parking on the paved or main-traveled part of the highway and requires a clear view of a parked vehicle from 200 feet in each direction (the manual says at least 150 feet). Also do not park where signs forbid parking.
