During a trip, your car's right turn-signal lamp stops working. You need to make a right turn at the next intersection. What should you do?
Blue A approaches a right turn. The card states that its right-turn lamp has failed. No arm signal, hazard lamps or turn path is shown.
Correct answer: Give the hand signal for a right turn, and have the lamp repaired right away.
Why
Turn signals, brake lights, taillights and headlights tell other road users where you are and what you will do next. Vermont law requires headlights, taillights and turn-signal lamps on cars. The hand signal for a right turn is the left hand and arm extended upward, and any turn signal must be given during at least the last 100 feet before the turn. Replace a burned-out bulb with the type that the vehicle maker recommends.
