Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You notice that you are going the wrong way on a busy city street and want to turn around. What does the manual call the safest choice?
Correct answer: Drive around the block or turn around in a parking lot.
Why
The manual names a loop around the block, or a turnaround in a parking lot, as the safest way to reverse direction. On the road test you may be asked to turn around by backing into a side street on your right, stopping beyond any crosswalk or stop line, and then turning left out of it. Never back across an intersection, because when you back up you are responsible for traffic in all directions.
