Taylor, age 17, has had a Virginia driver's license for 14 months. On which of these trips may Taylor legally drive at 12:30 a.m.?
Correct answer: Home from a late shift at the restaurant where Taylor has a job
Why
In Virginia, the first license issued to a person under 18 is a provisional license, and its limits stay until the 18th birthday. In the first year, you may also carry not more than one passenger under 21 who is not family; after that, up to three in some cases, such as trips to or from a school activity. The manual does not show these limits, but they are part of the Code of Virginia. Night driving and young passengers both increase the crash risk for new drivers.
