Passing target: 85% (34/40)
You drive on a road with one lane in each direction. The car ahead stops and signals a left turn into a driveway. Which statement about passing it on the right is correct?
A follows B, which is stopped and signals left into a driveway. An unpaved shoulder lies to the right.
Correct answer: You may not pass on the right if you must leave the pavement to do it
Why
The vehicle that you pass can block your view, and it can block the view of other drivers, so pass with care. Virginia law also permits a pass on the right on a road with two or more lanes in each direction, and on a one-way road with two or more lanes. You must not cross a solid line into a bicycle lane to pass a vehicle (§ 46.2-841).
