As you back out of your driveway, you notice that the brake pedal feels soft and goes down farther than usual before the car stops. What does Virginia law require?
Correct answer: Have the brakes repaired before you drive on the road
Why
The condition of your brakes changes your braking distance. Worn or damaged brakes need more distance to stop, and they can fail in an emergency stop. A soft or sinking pedal can show a problem in the brake system, so have a mechanic check it before you use the car.
