Passing target: 85% (34/40)
At dusk, you notice that the right headlight of your car has burned out. The left headlight and the fog lights work. You must drive home after dark. What does Virginia law require?
A front detail of blue car A at dusk shows the vehicle’s right headlight dark, on the viewer’s left. Its left headlight and two lower fog lamps are lit. No repair mark appears.
Correct answer: Two working headlights, one on each side of the front
Why
With only one headlight, an oncoming driver can think that your car is a motorcycle and misjudge its position on the road. Headlights must be on from sunset to sunrise, and also whenever bad weather makes you use your wipers. The DMV road skills test also requires a vehicle with working lights.
