Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You wait in a left-turn lane. The signal shows a green left arrow. A pedestrian who started to cross on the walk signal is still in the crosswalk on your path. What should you do?
A waits in the left-turn lane. An enlarged signal shows a circular red lamp with a green left arrow; a pedestrian is still in the receiving-street crosswalk.
Correct answer: Wait for the pedestrian to clear, then turn left
Why
A green arrow is a protected movement: you may go only in the arrow's direction, and oncoming vehicles, crossing traffic and pedestrians should not be in your path. Still scan before you turn, because someone may still be in the intersection. When the arrow turns yellow, prepare to stop.
