You drive a 17-year-old friend who sits in the back seat. Your friend says that seat belts are only for the front seat. Which statement is correct under Washington law?
Correct answer: Every rider in every seat, front or back, must wear a seat belt
Why
A correctly worn seat belt is your best protection in a crash. Wear the shoulder belt across the middle of the chest, never behind the back or under the arm, and the lap belt low across the hips. The driver must make sure that each passenger under 16 uses a belt or the correct child restraint.
