Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
You are about halfway down an entrance ramp to an Interstate. Another car is ahead of you in the acceleration lane. How should you check the Interstate traffic?
Correct answer: Take quick looks over your shoulder and to the side, and also watch the car ahead of you.
Why
Short glances let you check the traffic that you will join and still see the ramp ahead. Signal early, choose a gap, and adjust your speed to it. Interstate traffic has the right-of-way, and other drivers may not see you or move over for you. Do not cut sharply to the left; follow the acceleration lane, merge, and then change lanes if you need to.
