You see a gravel crossover in the grass median of an Interstate. Which vehicles may use it to turn around?
A travels on one of two Interstate roadways. A gravel crossover connects them through the grass median; no police vehicle, turn path or permission label is shown.
Correct answer: Only police vehicles and other emergency vehicles.
Why
Median crossovers let police and emergency crews reach a crash or turn back quickly. A car that slows in the left lane to turn into a crossover, and then enters the opposite lanes from a stop, is at high risk of a crash from both directions. If you must go back, continue to the next exit, leave the Interstate, and enter again in the other direction.
